IDE\nusers may continue to use the MCP endpoint.\n\n### Install or update the CLI\n\n`dcc-mcp-cli` is the preferred control path for every shell-capable agent. If\nit is missing, ask the user before installing the latest official release:\n\nOn Linux/macOS, download and inspect the installer:\n\n```bash\ncurl -fL https://raw.githubusercontent.com/dcc-mcp/dcc-mcp-core/main/scripts/install-cli.sh -o install-cli.sh\ncat install-cli.sh\n```\n\nAfter completing the inspection and obtaining the user's permission to install:\n\n```bash\nsh ./install-cli.sh\n```\n\nOn Windows PowerShell, download and inspect the installer:\n\n```powershell\nInvoke-WebRequest https://raw.githubusercontent.com/dcc-mcp/dcc-mcp-core/main/scripts/install-cli.ps1 -OutFile .\\install-cli.ps1\nGet-Content -Raw .\\install-cli.ps1\n```\n\nAfter completing the inspection and obtaining the user's permission to install,\nrun the reviewed local installer under the current execution policy:\n\n```powershell\n& .\\install-cli.ps1\n```\n\nKeep an official build current through the release manifest:\n\n```bash\ndcc-mcp-cli update check\n```\n\nOnly after the user explicitly confirms the update:\n\n```bash\ndcc-mcp-cli update apply --yes\n```\n\n`update apply` downloads and stages the latest CLI for the next launch. It\ndoes not update a running `dcc-mcp-server`; update that server in its own\nenvironment.\n\nUse `--require-gateway` for task calls so Gateway audit/stats records them.\nThis fails closed instead of falling back to direct MCP. Choose one stable\n`<task-id>` and pass it to every tool call with `--agent-session-id`. This sets\n`_meta.agent_context.session_id`; reuse the same ID in `stats --session-id`\nafter the task.\n\n```bash\ndcc-mcp-cli dcc-types\ndcc-mcp-cli list\ndcc-mcp-cli search --query \"<task>\" --dcc-type <host>\ndcc-mcp-cli describe <tool-slug>\ndcc-mcp-cli call <tool-slug> --require-gateway --agent-session-id \"<task-id>\" --json '{\"key\":\"value\"}'\n```\n\nIf the package skill is not active, call\n`dcc-mcp-cli load-skill <skill-name> --dcc-type <host>`.
