Standalone: agents, skills, prompts and instructions that Copilot discovers automatically.\n\n## Overview\n\n`boost-backend` ships reusable backend reasoning assets, including:\n\n- architecture guidance\n- API design patterns\n- refactoring playbooks\n- performance heuristics\n- security review criteria\n- testing standards\n- data access guidance\n- backend DevOps recommendations\n\n## Prerequisites\n\n- Node.js 20 or later\n- npm 10 or later\n\n## Quick Start\n\nThis boost is **self-contained**: it does not need any runtime, plugin or MCP server. One command copies its assets to the places where GitHub Copilot / VS Code discover them automatically.\n\n```bash\n# From the root of YOUR project\nnpx github:Sertxito/boost_backend\n# or, once published on npm\nnpx boost-backend\n```\n\n| Asset | Installed into |\n|---|---|\n| Agents | `.github/agents/*.agent.md` |\n| Skills | `.github/skills/<name>/SKILL.md` and `.agents/skills/<name>/SKILL.md` |\n| Prompts | `.github/prompts/*.prompt.md` |\n| Instructions | `.github/instructions/*.instructions.md` |\n| Global instructions | `.github/copilot-instructions.md` (only if the project has none) |\n\nOptions: `--target <dir>`, `--force` (overwrite), `--dry-run`, `--no-agents-dir` (skip `.agents/skills`), `--check` (verify install), `--uninstall`.\nExisting files are never overwritten without `--force`, so several boosts can coexist in the same project.\n\n**Verify:** run `npx boost-backend --check`, reload VS Code (`Developer: Reload Window`), then type `@` in Copilot Chat (agents), `/` (prompts) and open the *Configure Tools / Skills* picker.\n\n## Package Layout\n\n```text\nagents/       -> who acts\nspecs/        -> universal truths and non-negotiable guidance\nskills/       -> operational procedures that can evolve\nprompts/      -> runtime prompt composition per capability\ninstructions/ -> domain instructions reused by agents and skills\nevals/        -> evaluation criteria and test cases\nexamples/     -> examples of high-quality outputs\ndocs/         -> package documentation and contribution guides\n```\n\n## Mental Model\n\n```text\nAgent   = who I am\nSpec    = what I know\nSkill   = how I work\nPrompt  = how I compose\nEval    = how I measure quality\nExample = what good looks like\n```\n\n## Local Customization\n\nInstalled files are plain files in your project (`.github/`). Edit them freely; re-run with `--force` to restore the originals.\n\n## Quality Checks (Maintainers)\n\nRun all repository checks before publishing:\n\n```bash\nnpm run quality\n```\n\nThis runs structure validation, references validation, eval checks, artifact alignment checks, and placeholder checks.\n\n## Naming and collisions\n\nInstalled assets are prefixed with `backend-` (e.g. `.github/agents/backend-<name>.agent.md`, `.github/skills/backend-<name>/`) so several boosts can live in the same project, and internal references are rewritten to match.\n\n- Nothing that already exists in the target is overwritten: each ignored file is reported with a `[WARN] ... already existed ... IGNORED` message. Use `--force` to overwrite.\n- An existing `.github/copilot-instructions.md` is kept; the boost's global guidance is installed as `backend-global.instructions.md` instead.\n- Re-running the installer is safe; `--check` and `--uninstall` work from the manifest.\n\r\n"}
