All settings come\nfrom the environment — copy the example file and edit it:\n\n```bash\ncp .env.example .env\n# at minimum: POSTGRES_PASSWORD, TRELL_ADMIN_KEY, AUTH_SECRET, TRELL_ENC_KEY\n# public deployments: also set NEXT_PUBLIC_SDK_URL / NEXT_PUBLIC_INGEST_URL\n# to your own API origin (they bake into the build)\ndocker compose up -d --build\n```\n\n- Dashboard: `http://localhost:3000`\n- API: `http://localhost:8787`\n\nCreate your first project via the onboarding flow, paste the tracking snippet\ninto your site, and events start flowing. For `prisma validate/generate`\noutside Docker, any dummy `DATABASE_URL` works (e.g.\n`postgresql://trell:trell@localhost:5432/trell`).\n\n### Recommended Versions\n\n| Package | Version |\n| ------- | ------- |\n| node | v20.x |\n| pnpm | 10.33.0 |\n\n### Common Local Development Issues\n\n- `Environment variable not found: DATABASE_URL` from prisma – export a dummy\n `DATABASE_URL` (see above); no live DB is required for validate/generate.\n- `AUTH_DEV_MODE must never be enabled in production` during `next build` –\n that guard only trips when `AUTH_DEV_MODE=true` is set; unset it to build.\n- The project is not building correctly locally – verify your versions of\n `node` and `pnpm` match the recommended versions above.\n\n## Security model\n\n- Publishable keys (`pk_…`) only write events from allowlisted domains.\n- Secret keys (`sk_…`) are encrypted at rest (`TRELL_ENC_KEY`) and bypass the\n domain check — server-side only, never in the browser.\n- Webhook targets are validated against SSRF (no private IPs).\n- Never commit `.env` files — only `.env.example` is tracked.\n\n## License\n\nAGPL-3.0-or-later — see [LICENSE](LICENSE).\n"}
