Agent skills for university students: study loop, vault standard, decks, research. Install and go.
Set up
Skills are installed by placing their folder where your agent loads skills.
The download comes from github.com/ZileiC/agent-skills-for-students itself, not from our server, so what you get is exactly what its author published.
Install instructions come from the README

Skills for AI agents that follow the SKILL.md convention: a directory, a YAML frontmatter block, and a
procedure the agent loads only when the trigger fires. Nothing here depends on a particular vendor or
client, so the same tree works in any agent that reads this format.
78 skills, grouped by what they are for. Two of them carry the rest.
The two that matter
knowledge-acquisition-protocol
A six-stage loop for learning one unit of material to the point where you can teach it: capture > comprehend > recall > apply > teach > archive. Each stage names an action, an artefact and a pass condition, so "I studied it" becomes something checkable.
Four laws hold the loop together: think for fifteen minutes before asking; the agent guides and never hands over the answer; explaining is the only pass mark; the agent's job is to find holes in your work.
The useful part is the failure handling. When you are wrong, the agent does not correct you: it follows your premise until something absurd falls out, then asks where the argument broke, so you find the faulty assumption yourself. Recall happens in conversation and leaves no file. Every error has to compress into one stated rule before the stage closes.
vault-integration-standard
The schema that keeps a course-based notes vault navigable: a course tree for order, wikilinks for reach, frontmatter for identity.
Three navigation layers (vault > semester > course hub), a frontmatter contract every note shares, and one footer block of three link classes. Any note is reachable in four steps. Integration merges missing keys and never overwrites, never deletes, so the pass is auditable and reversible.
It also explains why: which knowledge-management functions each mechanism covers, why atomic notes with explicit links suit course-based material, and what the design deliberately refuses to do.
Install
git clone https://github.com/ZileiC/agent-skills-for-students.git
Then copy what you want into the directory your agent scans for skills:
cp -r agent-skills-for-students/skills/* <your-agent-skills-dir>/
Most agents load skills at start-up. INSTALL.md covers installing a single skill, where the directory usually lives, and how to check that a skill registered.
How a skill is shaped
skills/<group>/<skill-name>/SKILL.md
The frontmatter carries name and description; the description is the only part the agent reads before
deciding to load the body. The body answers four questions: when to use it, what the procedure is, where it
goes wrong, and how to verify the result.
Supporting material sits beside it in references/, templates/, scripts/ or assets/.
What is inside
Agent engineering
Delegation, review, debugging and delivery discipline for agent work.
| Skill | What it does |
|---|---|
agent-project-handoff | Use when coding spans sessions: file-based agent handoff. |
agent-skill-installation | Use when installing agent skills from GitHub into Hermes. |
android-development | Android app development: Gradle/Kotlin/Compose project scaffolding, Windows git-bash SDK setup, system-level patterns (overlay, usage stats, foreground services). |
cheap-agent-dispatch | Cut a coding agent to <=25 tool calls per ticket. |
coding-agents | Delegate coding to external autonomous agents: Claude Code, OpenAI Codex, OpenCode, and pi agent - each orchestrated via Hermes terminal/PTY tools. |
computer-use | Drive the desktop background-first; escalate on signal. |
contested-formula-audit | Use when a user disputes a computed number; audit then rebuild. |
debugging | Debugging tools and methodology: systematic root cause analysis (4-phase), Node.js inspector, Python debugpy, and Hermes TUI slash-command debugging. |
full-stack-web | Full-stack web application patterns: FastAPI + React SPA, RAG pipelines, npm/Node.js Windows quirks. |
github | GitHub workflows: auth setup, PR lifecycle, code review, issues, repo management, CI/CD, and releases - via gh CLI or curl fallback. |
github-account-rename-sweep | Use when a GitHub username is renamed; sweep all references. |
github-issue-to-pr | Carry a GitHub issue to a verified PR with honest CI state. |
hermes-agent | Configure, extend, or contribute to Hermes Agent. |
kanban-orchestrator | Decomposition playbook + anti-temptation rules for an orchestrator profile routing work through Kanban. The "don't do the work yourself" rule and the basic lifecycle are auto-injected into every kanban worker's system prompt; their skill is the deeper playbook when you're specifically playing the orchestrator role. |
merge-reconciler | Neutral third-party resolution of agent merge conflicts. |
product-discovery | Use when asked if a tool or product is worth building. |
project-continuity | Use when a coding project spans multiple sessions. |
simplify-code | Parallel 4-agent cleanup of recent code changes. |
software-methodology | Software development methodology: planning, spikes, subagent-driven execution, TDD, code review, and codebase inspection. |
Teaching and study
Tutoring, grading, exam preparation and the study loop.
| Skill | What it does |
|---|---|
argument-analysis | Use for argument analysis: Toulmin structure, claim types, fallacies, source verification. |
course-material-intake | Use when a photo, screenshot or PDF of course material must be filed into the right folder. |
course-tutoring | Use when tutoring a subject from zero: taught order, quiz modes, homework and solution formats. |
coursework | Use when generating practice exams, revision notes, study plans or lab write-ups from course material. |
hkust-gz-course-planning | Use when planning a semester from a degree pathway PDF and a live course catalogue. |
homework-grading | Use when a finished assignment needs grading in place, with machine-checked numbers. |
online-judge-submissions | Use when solving a pasted judge problem for submission, with platform-specific traps. |
team-project-deliverables | Use when drafting a course team deliverable that must satisfy a rubric and a template. |
Knowledge base
A vault that stays navigable: protocol, schema, retrieval.
| Skill | What it does |
|---|---|
corpus-digestion | Use when a large folder or document set must be read end to end and summarised. |
knowledge-acquisition-protocol | Use when a study unit must be learned to the point of teaching it; six-stage loop with hard gates. |
llm-wiki | Karpathy's LLM Wiki: build/query interlinked markdown KB. |
obsidian | Use when reading, searching, creating or restructuring notes in an Obsidian vault. |
vault-integration-standard | Use when giving a course-based notes vault a navigation layer and a uniform note schema. |
vault-workbench | Use when building a status panel over a notes vault, or retiring and superseding vault documents. |
Decks and documents
Stage decks, PDF and PPTX, typography, delivery copy.
| Skill | What it does |
|---|---|
chinese-writing | Use when drafting or revising Chinese text that a real person will send or submit. |
cjk-latex-typesetting | Use when typesetting any document with LaTeX/tectonic on their Windows host - Chinese docs AND all-English artefacts that share their preamble (cue cards, coursework PDFs, one-pagers, team hand-outs). |
deliverable-copy | Use when writing text the requester will send or publish. |
html-presentation-decks | Use when building HTML presentation decks or live talks. |
html-talk-deck | Use when building a single-file HTML talk deck with stepwise beats and stage-safe motion. |
paste-ready-copy | Use when text will be pasted elsewhere: give copy only. |
pdf-creater | Generate premium PDFs via LaTeX compilation (tectonic). Auto-loads the apple-design.skill - the HIGHEST-priority design source - for typography (optical sizing, tracking, leading), hierarchy, and design foundations. The designer skill is consulted LAST, only for what apple-design doesn't cover (color theory, brand/logo systems). Supports embedded screenshots from local files or browser-captured web images. Cleans all intermediate files - only the final PDF survives. |
pptx-decks | Use when building or editing PowerPoint decks. |
presentation-decks | Use when turning a topic into a live talk: narrative, time budget, visual direction, rehearsal. |
