Set up

Skills are installed by placing their folder where your agent loads skills.

The download comes from github.com/ortizssh/animonkey itself, not from our server, so what you get is exactly what its author published.

Install instructions come from the README

Skills do not use an MCP config. Follow the steps in the README below.

Animonkey

by Dustkey LLC

Product motion graphics, with a studio method. A skill for Claude Code that directs and produces high-end animated videos for products and startups —launch promos, explainers, landing-page and app-store videos, reels and 6–15 s ads— in Remotion + three.js.

Frames from the example film that ships with the template ("Pulso", a fictional app): procedural 3D characters, measured kinetic titles, the UI in HTML glued to a 3D phone, physical ground switches and the vertical version of the same film without remaking it.

What it does

Animonkey turns a brief into a finished film by following the same craft every time:

  • The music rules. The shape of the track gives the acts (hook, problem, brand, product, close) and its tempo gives a frame grid: every title, camera hit and tap lands on a beat.
  • The problem is acted out. Procedural 3D characters simulate the user's process; what they drop in the problem comes back, written, as the product's result.
  • The titles tell the story on their own. One centered line of 2–5 words, measured with the real typeface (no DOM), with entries and exits choreographed to the music.
  • Nothing cuts; everything transforms. Scene and background changes are carried by an object or the camera, never by a crossfade.
  • The UI is the real one. The product's screens are redrawn in HTML, animated by state and glued to 3D devices with a homography, legible whenever they're read.
  • One film, every format. 9:16 and 4:5 verticals through a window over the 16:9, language versions, local AI voice-over, a master without voice and 6–15 s cuts with several openings to test in ads.
  • Every project has its own line. Palette, typeface, character finish, light, camera, motion and music come from each client's brand. A check warns when a project repeats another one's line.

references/eleven references with rules and numbers: storytelling, art direction, kinetic typography, motion and grounds, 3D characters, product UI, audio and voice, marketing and formats, production and QA, taste, and the template guide
template/a Remotion project that compiles and renders: the kit (titles, grid, grounds, 3D camera, characters, UI) and a 25 s example film in its own line
scripts/Python to map and cut music by bars, mix, generate and pick the voice, check the render, build contact sheets, compare renders and deliver

Installation

As a personal Claude Code skill:

git clone https://github.com/ortizssh/animonkey.git ~/.claude/skills/animonkey

Claude Code loads it on its own: ask for a video ("make a 30 s promo for my app", "I need 15 s cuts for ads") and the skill kicks in. It also works inside a project, in .claude/skills/animonkey.

Using the template without the skill

cp -R ~/.claude/skills/animonkey/template my-video && cd my-video
npm install
npm run check # checks without rendering, in English and Spanish
npm run dev # Remotion Studio
sh scripts/still.sh me Film 40,345,700 out/frames 0.5    # single frames
sh scripts/render.sh                            # 1920 × 1080 master → out/film.mp4
COMP=Film-9x16 sh scripts/render.sh             # vertical
FILM_LANG=es NAME=film-es sh scripts/render.sh  # in Spanish

What changes in each project lives in src/project/ (timing, titles, cuts, vertical framing, cast, blocks) and in five line files (palette.ts, style.ts, brand.ts, the typeface table and cast.ts). The example is a skeleton to learn the API, not a finished film.

Requirements

  • Node ≥ 20 (tested with 26), ffmpeg and ffprobe.
  • uv with Python 3.12 for the scripts (dependencies install themselves with uv run --with …).
  • For local AI voice: Apple Silicon and an environment with mlx-audio, faster-whisper, mlx-whisper, speechbrain and librosa (Qwen3-TTS models, Apache-2.0).
  • Tested versions (Oct 2026): Remotion 4.0.509, three 0.182, @react-three/fiber 9.8, drei 10.7.9, React 19.0.

License

Animonkey is © 2026 Dustkey LLC and is distributed under MIT or Apache-2.0, at your option (LICENSE-MIT, LICENSE-APACHE): you can use it, modify it and use it in commercial work as long as you keep the copyright notice.

Third-party pieces keep their own licenses (THIRD_PARTY_NOTICES.md). The three that matter most:

  • Remotion has its own license: it's free for individuals and small companies, and larger companies need a company license. Check remotion.dev/license before using it commercially.
  • The example typeface (Space Grotesk) is SIL OFL 1.1 and loads from Google Fonts; the included measurement table was derived from that file.
  • The repository ships no music: use tracks with a commercial license that covers social media and paid ads.
