What is Gamma Watermark Remover?
Gamma Watermark Remover is a free, open-source tool for removing the visible "Made with Gamma" watermark from presentations exported from Gamma.app. When you export a deck from Gamma's free plan, every PDF page and every PowerPoint slide carries a small branded badge in the corner, linked to gamma.app. This tool finds that badge — which is stored as a separate document object — and deletes it cleanly, without re-rendering your file or touching any of your own content.
It ships as a command-line tool and Python library (this repository), a free web app that runs entirely in the browser via WebAssembly, a local web UI, an MCP server for Claude and other AI agents, and an agent skill for Claude Code and OpenClaw. All variants share the same detection engine and the same rule: only verified Gamma branding objects are removed, on files you created yourself.

Why this tool
The Gamma badge in an exported file is a separate document object — an image with a gamma.app hyperlink in PDFs, a hyperlinked shape on the slide master in PPTX files. That means it can be deleted, not painted over:
- Lossless — text stays selectable, slides stay fully editable; nothing is re-rendered or rasterized
- Offline — pure Python, runs locally; nothing is uploaded anywhere
- Precise — only objects linked to
gamma.app/gamma.toare targeted; your content is never touched - Honest — if an export flattened the badge into the page image (rare), the tool tells you instead of silently failing
Install
pipx install gamma-watermark-remover
# or
pip install gamma-watermark-remover
Or straight from source:
git clone https://github.com/gammaremover/gamma-watermark-remover.git
cd gamma-watermark-remover
pip install .
Usage
CLI
# single file → writes deck-no-watermark.pdf next to it
gamma-watermark-remover deck.pdf
# custom output path
gamma-watermark-remover deck.pptx -o clean.pptx
# batch
gamma-watermark-remover exports/*.pdf exports/*.pptx
Example output:
deck.pdf: removed 12 watermark object(s) across 6 page(s) → deck-no-watermark.pdf
Python API
from pathlib import Path
from gamma_watermark_remover import clean_pdf, clean_pptx
result = clean_pdf(Path("deck.pdf").read_bytes())
Path("clean.pdf").write_bytes(result.cleaned)
print(result.removed, "objects removed,", result.units, "pages")
result = clean_pptx(Path("deck.pptx").read_bytes())
Path("clean.pptx").write_bytes(result.cleaned)
How detection works
Transparency matters for a tool like this, so here is the exact logic:
PDF (pypdf): every page is scanned for (1) link annotations whose URI resolves to gamma.app/gamma.to — these are dropped, and (2) the draw operation of the small bottom-right image that forms the badge. The content stream's transformation matrix is tracked through q/Q/cm operators so each image's true position and size are known; a size guard (≤45% page width, ≤25% height) guarantees full-page/background images are never touched. If a gamma link exists but no discrete badge image is found, the file is flagged may_remain — the badge was probably flattened into the page raster.
PPTX (python-pptx): Gamma stores the badge on the slide layouts/masters, which is why it appears on every slide. All masters, layouts, and slides are scanned; a shape is removed only if it (or a text run inside it) carries a gamma.app/gamma.to hyperlink, or its shape name contains gamma. Position alone never triggers removal, and the tool deliberately does not match bare "Made with" text — that would delete legitimate user content.
Use as an agent skill (Claude Code / OpenClaw)
This repo ships an agent skill so AI coding agents can remove Gamma watermarks on request ("remove the gamma watermark from deck.pdf"). The same SKILL.md format works in both:
Claude Code
mkdir -p ~/.claude/skills/gamma-watermark-remover
curl -fsSL https://raw.githubusercontent.com/gammaremover/gamma-watermark-remover/main/skills/gamma-watermark-remover/SKILL.md \
-o ~/.claude/skills/gamma-watermark-remover/SKILL.md
OpenClaw
mkdir -p ~/.openclaw/skills/gamma-watermark-remover
curl -fsSL https://raw.githubusercontent.com/gammaremover/gamma-watermark-remover/main/skills/gamma-watermark-remover/SKILL.md \
-o ~/.openclaw/skills/gamma-watermark-remover/SKILL.md
(Project-scoped installs work too: .claude/skills/ in any repo, or your OpenClaw workspace skills/ directory. Dedicated skill repo: gammaremover/gamma-watermark-remover-skill.)
Web version
gammaremover.com runs this same engine in your browser via Pyodide (WebAssembly):
- no installation, works on phones too
- no upload — processing is local, files never reach a server
- PDF preview of the cleaned result before download
- free, no account, no file limits
Comparison with other removal methods
There are many ways people try to remove the Gamma watermark from a PowerPoint or PDF export. Honest comparison:
| Method | Time | Quality | Privacy | Cost |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| This tool (CLI / browser) | Seconds | Lossless | Local — nothing uploaded | Free |
| PowerPoint Slide Master edit | Minutes | Lossless | Local | Free, PPTX only |
| Canva / Google Slides import | 10+ min | Fonts & layout may shift | Uploaded to that platform | Free |
| Online "AI watermark removers" | Minutes | Re-rendered / inpainted, quality loss | Upload required, often quota-limited | Freemium |
| Screenshots | Hours | Text no longer selectable | Local | Free |
| Gamma Plus upgrade | — | Perfect for new exports only | — | ~$120/year |
The structural approach wins because the Made with Gamma badge is a discrete object — deleting it is cleaner than repainting pixels over it.
Common use cases
- Business proposals & pitch decks — send client-ready presentations without third-party branding
- Academic submissions — clean slides for coursework, thesis defense, and conference talks
- Portfolio pieces — showcase your design work without a corner badge
- Freelance deliverables — hand off polished decks that look fully yours
- Batch cleanup — a folder of old Gamma exports cleaned in one command
FAQ
Is this Gamma watermark remover really free? Yes — MIT-licensed open source, no account, no quota, no file limits. The browser version is free too.
Does it work on PowerPoint files from Gamma?
Yes. Gamma exports PowerPoint as .pptx; the badge lives on the slide master/layouts and is removed from every slide at once. The cleaned deck opens normally in Microsoft PowerPoint, Google Slides, and Keynote, fully editable.
Does it remove the watermark from Gamma PDF exports? Yes — both the bottom-right badge image and its gamma.app link annotation are removed from every page, with text staying selectable.
Can it handle old .ppt files or Keynote exports?
Not directly. Convert .ppt to .pptx in PowerPoint first. Keynote (.key) exports are not supported yet.
Why does it say a watermark "may remain"? Some exports flatten the badge into the page image itself. A structural remover cannot delete pixels inside a raster — the tool reports this honestly instead of degrading your file with inpainting.
Does upgrading to Gamma Plus clean my existing files? No — upgrading only affects new exports. Files already on disk keep their badge; that is exactly what this tool is for. (Details)
Windows, macOS, Linux? All three — pure Python, no native dependencies. The web version additionally covers phones and tablets.
Is it safe for confidential decks? Processing is fully local (this CLI) or fully in-browser (the web version). Nothing is uploaded to any server in either case. (Why that matters)

Responsible use
This tool is for cleaning the export branding from files you created or have the right to modify — client decks, class submissions, portfolio pieces you authored. It is not for altering other people's work. Gamma's official watermark-free path is its paid plan, which also includes unlimited AI credits; if you use Gamma heavily, it may genuinely be worth it. Keep your original exports and review cleaned files before sharing.
