mcp server
memory-hive-ios
Local-first memory your AI agents share over MCP, running on your own machine. An agent can propose a memory; only you can confirm it. `pip install memory-hive-mcp` + the Hive app for Mac.
Set up
Runs on your computer. Pick your agent and operating system.

synced Oct 24, 2026Memory Hive for iOS
The pocket client for Memory Hive. Record a thought on your phone; it syncs home to your own Hive when both are on the same network. The Mac app holds the memory; the phone is a door into it. With no Hive of your own to sync to, this app is a well-made notebook.
What is in this repository
▶ Runnable today — tools/hive-import
A dependency-free Python CLI: notes → Hive ingest format → optionally send. No telemetry, your key is never written to disk. This is the one part of this repository you can run.
python3 tools/hive-import/hive-import.py convert ~/my-notes --dry-run
📖 Reference code — Sources/
The iOS app's UI and utility layer: views and navigation, the design system (theme, icons, motion, haptics), media pickers, and Simplified Chinese / English localization. 22 Swift files.
⚠️ Honest note: Sources/ is a subset of modules, published to be read, not to be
built. The Xcode project is not part of this repository, so xcodebuild will not produce
a runnable app from this tree alone. To run the real thing, use the App Store link above.
What is not in this repository
🔒 Closed source — the part that connects a phone to a Hive:
- Device pairing (QR handshake and one-time pairing codes)
- Credential storage and the on-device keychain wrapper
- The authenticated handshake / authorization between a device and your Hive
- The vault boundary — PIN-derived key wrapping (Argon2id), AES-256 at rest, and the rules that seal private vaults from cloud agents
These stay closed so that the security boundary is not something anyone can fork and quietly weaken.
The rest is open. The memory engine itself — the plain SQLite store and the lexical
retrieval — is MIT-licensed and public: memory-hive-mcp,
in src/hive_mcp/store.py.
Where the product is documented
The MCP server, its engine, the six tools, HIVE_MODE and the honest limits are documented
in one place, so there is only one thing to keep current:
