mongodb-python-guided-learning
This repository includes an agent skill to help you learn mongodb with python.
Set up
Skills are installed by placing their folder where your agent loads skills.
The download comes from github.com/manfontan/mongodb-python-guided-learning itself, not from our server, so what you get is exactly what its author published.

A demonstration repository showcasing the Agent Skills Standard using the MongoDB CRUD Operations Skill Badge as a structured learning path with PyMongo as the Python driver.
Overview
This repository contains an AI-powered agent skill designed to guide learners through MongoDB database operations using Python. Rather than using the MongoDB Shell (mongosh), this learning path leverages PyMongo — the synchronous Python driver for MongoDB — making it accessible for Python developers of all levels.
What This Is
Agent Skills Standard Demo: This repository demonstrates how to create specialized, focused agent skills that guide learners through structured learning objectives using the Agent Skills framework.
Learning Path: The MongoDB CRUD Operations Skill Badge curriculum serves as the foundation, with content adapted for Python developers using PyMongo instead of the MongoDB Shell.
Technology Stack:
- Driver: PyMongo — The synchronous Python driver for MongoDB
- Database: MongoDB — Flexible, document-based database
- Learning Framework: MongoDB CRUD Operations Skill Badge
Getting Started
Prerequisites
- Python 3.8 or higher
- MongoDB Atlas cluster (free cluster available at mongodb.com/cloud)
- PyMongo driver:
pip install pymongo
Using the Agent Skill
Open GitHub Copilot Chat (or any compatible IDE) and describe what you want to learn:
"I want to learn MongoDB CRUD operations using Python"
"Help me prepare for the MongoDB CRUD Operations Skill Badge with PyMongo"
"How do I query documents with MongoDB using Python?"
The agent will guide you through:
- Inserting documents
- Querying documents with operators
- Updating documents
- Deleting documents
- Modifying results (sorting, limiting, projection)

Learning Objectives
By completing this guided learning path, you will:
- ✅ Perform CRUD operations (Create, Read, Update, Delete) in MongoDB using Python
- ✅ Design effective queries using MongoDB operators (
$gt,$lt,$in,$or, etc.) - ✅ Modify query results with sorting, limiting, projection, and counting
- ✅ Understand PyMongo equivalents of MongoDB Shell (
mongosh) commands - ✅ Be prepared to earn the official MongoDB CRUD Operations Skill Badge
Key Features
Guided Learning
- Step-by-step progression through MongoDB concepts
- Clear explanations building from fundamentals to advanced topics
- Real-world code examples using PyMongo

Agent Skills Standard
This repository demonstrates the Agent Skills Standard — a framework for creating specialized, reusable agent capabilities that focus on specific domains or workflows. The MongoDB Python Coach is an example of how to:
- Define clear activation triggers
- Build structured learning workflows
- Provide domain-specific knowledge and resources
- Create supportive, adaptive learning experiences
