Set up

Skills are installed by placing their folder where your agent loads skills.

The download comes from github.com/Portkey-AI/skills itself, not from our server, so what you get is exactly what its author published.

Install instructions come from the README

Skills do not use an MCP config. Follow the steps in the README below.

Portkey Agent Skills

Teach your AI coding assistant to use Portkey. One command, works everywhere.

Works with Claude Code · Cursor · Codex · GitHub Copilot · Amp · OpenCode · Roo Code

Skills

SkillInstallWhat happens
Python SDKnpx add-skill portkey-ai/skills --skill pyYour assistant learns to write Portkey Python — completions, streaming, async, caching, fallbacks, load balancing, observability, guardrails
TypeScript SDKnpx add-skill portkey-ai/skills --skill tsSame coverage for the Node.js / TypeScript SDK
LiteLLM Migrationnpx add-skill portkey-ai/skills --skill migrateYour assistant gets side-by-side API mapping to convert LiteLLM code to Portkey, migrate proxy configs, and switch AI coding agents (Claude Code, Codex) from LiteLLM to Portkey

Install all skills at once:

npx add-skill portkey-ai/skills

Before you start

These skills teach your AI assistant how to write Portkey code — but Portkey itself needs a one-time setup:

  1. Sign up at app.portkey.ai
  2. Add your AI provider (OpenAI, Anthropic, Azure, etc.) in the Model Catalog — this is where your provider credentials live
  3. Copy your Portkey API key from Settings

Your assistant will use this API key and the @provider-slug/model-name format to route requests through Portkey.

Options

npx add-skill portkey-ai/skills --list # see all skills
npx add-skill portkey-ai/skills --global # install globally (all projects)
npx add-skill portkey-ai/skills --agent cursor # target a specific assistant
