project-book
An AI skill for one living project plan, task tracker, blocker forecast, evidence-based progress, and restart handoffs.
Set up
Skills are installed by placing their folder where your agent loads skills.
The download comes from github.com/rarora2414/project-book itself, not from our server, so what you get is exactly what its author published.
Install instructions come from the README

One project record. A clear plan. A useful next step.
An AI skill that combines a living project plan, task tracker, blocker forecasting, evidence-based progress and restart handoffs. Built for projects that span more than one conversation.
Idea → Scope → Project Book → Tasks → Review → Release → Operate
↑ ↓
Handoff ← Evidence + blocker forecast
What it helps with
- Turn an idea into a proportionate plan with observable completion checks.
- Keep requirements, design, technical decisions and task evidence together.
- Resume from the exact stopping point instead of rebuilding context.
- Find dependencies early and group ready human actions.
- Calculate reviewer-accepted progress without counting parent tasks twice.
- Remove acceptance credit when work is reopened.
- Separate “built,” “accepted,” “deployed” and “observed working.”
The skill includes a 12-section Markdown template, lifecycle and forecast references, and an optional read-only Python progress helper. Use only the sections your project needs.
Install and try
Download this repository. Copy the project-book folder into ~/.codex/skills/. Use a new session if your host has already loaded its skill list. Nothing is installed merely by viewing this GitHub page.
Use $project-book to plan a small CSV export tool.
Keep the scope small, make the first milestone testable,
and save the book in my selected project folder.
Use $project-book to resume the existing PROJECT_BOOK.md.
Show the next milestone, what blocks it, and my next ready action.
With another AI host, provide SKILL.md and the references/template it calls for. That provides instructions; it does not add file access, integrations or a native tool. Cross-host automatic discovery has not been tested.
Optional progress calculator
Python 3.9+; no third-party dependencies:
python3 project-book/scripts/progress.py examples/progress-input.json
python3 -m unittest discover -s tests -v
The example has three approved tasks, two historical acceptances and one reopen. It correctly returns 1/3, 33.33%. See the walkthrough and input contract.
The helper trusts explicitly attested inputs. It does not authenticate evidence, inspect your project or synchronize a document. Missing/stale evidence produces Unknown, not a reassuring zero. Equal task counts do not measure effort or time remaining.
Works alone, works together
| Skill | Role |
|---|---|
| Project Book | Integrated plan + tracker + forecast + progress + handoff |
| Forecasting Blockers | Focused blocker forecasts against the same book |
| Source Intelligence Navigator | Research sources and reusable lookup routes |
| Job Application Sprint | A targeted application; optionally uses a book for its portfolio sample |
No companion is required. These are shared-document conventions, not a live integration or automatic sync service. Use the same record and task IDs when combining them.
Privacy and limits
Keep project books, private evidence and credentials outside the reusable skill and public repository. The included examples are synthetic. Local storage does not guarantee offline AI processing. The skill does not authorize uploading, messaging, spending or deploying.
This is a 0.1.0 public edition. It does not replace a project owner's decisions or guarantee completion. See validation and limits. Bugs and reproducible examples are welcome; remove private data before opening an issue.
