⚡ prompt-caching - Save Tokens on Repeated Tasks

Download prompt-caching

📋 What is prompt-caching?

prompt-caching is a tool that helps you save tokens when using Claude Code. It automatically stores and reuses prompts during tasks like reading files, fixing bugs, and long coding sessions. This can cut your token use by up to 90%. It works without any setup or configuration.

If you use Claude Code often, this tool reduces costs and makes your work smoother.

🖥️ System Requirements

  • Operating System: Windows 10 or later
  • Processor: Any modern CPU (Intel or AMD)
  • Memory: 4 GB RAM minimum (8 GB recommended)
  • Disk Space: 100 MB free space
  • Internet Connection: Required for initial download and updates

🔑 Key Features

  • Automatically caches repeated prompts
  • Saves tokens on file reading and bug fixing
  • Works silently in the background—zero setup needed
  • Supports long conversations without token waste
  • Integrates directly with Claude Code
  • Written in TypeScript for fast, reliable performance

🎯 Who Should Use This?

  • Developers who work with Claude and Claude Code
  • Users who want to reduce the cost of AI token use
  • Anyone looking to speed up repetitive coding tasks
  • People who prefer tools that work without manual configuration

🚀 Getting Started

You do not need any programming skills or experience with command line tools to use prompt-caching. This guide will show you how to download and start using it on Windows.

Step 1: Visit the Download Page

Click the big green button below to open the official download page.

Download prompt-caching

This page lists the latest versions and files for prompt-caching.

Step 2: Download the Windows Installer

On the download page, look for the latest Windows installer file. It should have a name like:

prompt-caching-setup.exe

Click the file to download it. Depending on your browser, you may see the file in your downloads folder or at the bottom of the browser window.

Step 3: Run the Installer

Locate the downloaded file and double-click it. Windows will ask if you want to run the installer.

Click Yes or Run to continue.

Follow these steps in the installer:

  • Accept the license agreement
  • Choose the installation folder (the default is fine)
  • Click Install

The installer will copy the necessary files and set up prompt-caching on your computer.

Step 4: Launch prompt-caching

Once installation finishes, a shortcut called "prompt-caching" will appear on your desktop or in your Start Menu.

Click the shortcut to open the app.

prompt-caching will start running and automatically optimize your token usage when you use Claude Code.

🛠️ How It Works

prompt-caching keeps a close memory of the prompts you send to Claude Code. If you do the same file read or bug fix twice, the app reuses your previous prompt rather than sending everything again.

This approach cuts down on the number of tokens required. It means fewer requests to Claude Code, which lowers your token bill.

There is no manual setup. The app starts caching as soon as you open it.

🔄 Update prompt-caching

Check the releases page regularly for new versions.

To update:

  1. Download the latest installer from the release page.
  2. Run the installer again. It will update your current version without losing any settings.

Updates may add features, improve performance, or fix bugs.

⚙️ Basic Settings

prompt-caching requires no setup for most users. However, if you want to explore options, here are the main settings available inside the app:

  • Cache Size Limit: Adjust how much prompt data to keep.
  • Auto-Clear Cache: Choose whether to clear old data automatically.
  • Notifications: Turn on or off messages about caching activity.
  • Claude Code Integration: Manage your connection to Claude Code if needed.

These settings help you control how much disk space the app uses and how it works with your coding workflow.

🧩 Troubleshooting

If prompt-caching does not seem to work:

  • Make sure you are running Claude Code together with prompt-caching.
  • Restart prompt-caching and Claude Code.
  • Check your internet connection for any outages.
  • Visit the releases page to see if you have the latest version.
  • Reinstall prompt-caching if needed using the steps above.

If problems continue, open an issue on the GitHub repo.
