Set up

Skills are installed by placing their folder where your agent loads skills.

The download comes from github.com/tianchichen/obsidian-skills itself, not from our server, so what you get is exactly what its author published.

Install instructions come from the README

Skills do not use an MCP config. Follow the steps in the README below.

Everyday Universe Obsidian Agent Skills

中文说明

This repository contains agent skills for Obsidian vault workflows. The main installable skills live in skills/ and use English-first documentation. Chinese reference documents live in skills.zh-CN/.

How We Use Agents

These skills are not meant to think for you, replace your judgment, or auto-generate a finished body of knowledge on your behalf.

The core idea is to use an agent as a thinking tool rather than an answer machine. Each skill is designed to widen the information field around a question so you can think more clearly, compare perspectives, notice tensions, and make better decisions inside your own knowledge system.

In practice, that means the skills should help you:

  • see how different people frame the same issue
  • surface more context around an article, book, or note
  • connect a new input to existing notes, themes, and open questions
  • expand your information sources so your thinking becomes more critical and less automatic

The goal is not to outsource thought. The goal is to support reflection, comparison, synthesis, and critical thinking.

Included Skills

  • article-notes: Turn articles, newsletters, clippings, or rough notes into structured article notes.
  • book-context: Add author background, writing context, core framework, reading paths, and vault connections to book notes.
  • expand-note-trail: Expand an existing note into internal vault connections and external research trails.
  • epub-to-markdown: Convert EPUB files into Obsidian-friendly Markdown chapter files.
  • daily-digest: Generate a daily discovery digest from a daily note and configured sources.
  • close-my-day: Draft an end-of-day review from a daily note and recently active notes.

Repository Layout

  • skills/: installable English skill folders
  • skills.zh-CN/: Chinese reference docs for each skill
  • README.md: English entry point
  • README.zh-CN.md: Chinese entry point

Installation

Copy the desired folders from skills/ into your agent skill directory or the equivalent skill folder used by your tool.

Each skill folder contains a SKILL.md. epub-to-markdown also includes scripts/convert.py.

Configuration

The skills use generic placeholders instead of hardcoded personal paths:

  • <daily_notes_dir>
  • <digest_dir>
  • <books_dir>
  • <attachments_dir>
  • <daily_review_dir>
  • <reflection_anchor_note>
  • <source_notes_query>

When a skill needs to write to a vault, provide explicit paths whenever possible. If a path is missing, the skill may try lightweight discovery with rg --files. If discovery is ambiguous, it should ask instead of guessing.

Safety Defaults

  • Never overwrite existing notes without confirmation.
  • Show daily digest and daily review drafts before saving.
  • Prefer vault-relative paths.
  • Add wikilinks only after confirming the target note exists.
  • Preserve user-written content when updating existing notes.
