A Mac-native, AI-powered video editor that runs on a single Venice API key.
Requires macOS 26 (Tahoe) on Apple Silicon
Venice Video Creator is an open-source video editor for Mac. You and your agent generate and edit video together, right inside the timeline — powered entirely by your own Venice API key. No account, no subscription, no data sent to us: bring your key and everything runs against Venice directly.
Download
Don't use GitHub? No problem — it's a normal Mac app.
- Go to the latest release page.
- Under Assets, download
VeniceVideoCreator.dmg— or, on an Unofficial Build release, theVeniceVideoCreator-*-unsigned.zip(see below). - Open the downloaded
.dmg(or unzip the.zip), then drag Venice Video Creator onto the Applications folder. - Launch it from Applications.
First launch: because the app is distributed outside the Mac App Store, macOS may ask you to confirm. If you see "cannot be opened", right-click the app → Open → Open, or allow it under System Settings → Privacy & Security.
Unofficial build (zip, ad-hoc signed). The Unofficial Build release is rebuilt from venice-integration on every push, and any release may also carry a VeniceVideoCreator-*-unsigned.zip asset. It's the same app built without Developer ID signing or notarization. Install it the same way — unzip, drag to Applications — then approve it manually on first launch: right-click the app → Open → Open (or, after a blocked first attempt, System Settings → Privacy & Security → Open Anyway). macOS remembers the approval; later launches are normal. If Finder still refuses, run xattr -dr com.apple.quarantine "/Applications/Venice Video Creator.app" once in Terminal.
To start creating, open Settings → Venice and paste your Venice API key (get one at venice.ai).
What it does
- Swift-native timeline editor. Built from scratch for macOS — cut, trim, layout, caption, and export on a real timeline.
- Generative AI on your Venice key. Generate video, images, music, and SFX with the models in your Venice catalog, directly on the timeline.
- Works with your agents. Drive the editor from the built-in AI agent, or connect Claude / Codex / Cursor over MCP to edit the same project.
MCP server
When the app is open it exposes an MCP server at http://127.0.0.1:19789/mcp over HTTP.
Claude Code
claude mcp add --transport http venice-video-creator http://127.0.0.1:19789/mcp
Codex
codex mcp add venice-video-creator --url http://127.0.0.1:19789/mcp
Cursor
In the app, go to Help → MCP Instructions → Install in Cursor, or add this to ~/.cursor/mcp.json:
{
"mcpServers": {
"venice-video-creator": {
"type": "http",
"url": "http://127.0.0.1:19789/mcp"
}
}
}
Claude Desktop
The app bundles an mcpb Desktop Extension for one-click install. Go to Help → MCP Instructions → Install in Claude Desktop.
Privacy
Audited by Claude Fable 5 (automated agent) on 2026-07-09 at commit 8a73936; the findings below were fixed in the commits that followed. Full repo scope: sources, scripts, dependency graph, entitlements, and the bundled MCP extension.
No telemetry. No analytics. No tracking identifiers. No crash reporting. There is no analytics SDK in the dependency graph, no device or install ID anywhere, and crash logs stay on your Mac (~/Library/Logs/VeniceVideoCreator/). The only place user content is ever uploaded is api.venice.ai, for the AI features you invoke, with your own key — stored in the macOS Keychain, sent only as a bearer header.
Everything else that touches the network is off until you opt in, at first-run setup or later in Settings:
| Behavior | What it does | Settings |
|---|---|---|
| Background update checks | Fetches the Sparkle appcast from GitHub (check-only; installs are always your call) | General |
| Community skill catalog | Fetches the public skill list from GitHub | General |
| Local MCP server | Serves editor tools on 127.0.0.1:19789, loopback only | Agent |
| Seedance consent | Attaches the consent Seedance requires for face-bearing media | Models |
Also: exported .venice packages exclude AI history by default (chat conversations, prompts, generation log, per-asset provenance) — enable "Include AI history" in the export dialog to keep it. Unified-log output never contains your media filenames, paths, or full remote URLs.
FAQ
Is it free?
The app is free and open source. Generative AI features run against your own Venice API key — you pay Venice directly for what you generate; there's no separate subscription or login here.
